One
unique feature of SSIS’s Early Childhood Education Department is the
Kinesthetic Intelligence Program (K.I.P.) for Nursery up to Senior Prep. This
activity will enable them to make use of their analytic and cognitive skills as
they get to engage in different learning competencies prepared for them.
Last
September 21, 2012, our preschoolers had a tiring but fun filled day as they
committed themselves to our K.I.P. that coincided with the Math and Science
week! Four stations were prepared to test the children’s knowledge, skills and
psychomotor developments. Focusing on Math and Science, each station has its
own category that follows:
1.Family on the Run! A station wherein the class of a certain
level will be divided into 2 groups and would race who would get to finish
first. They have to identify who is the member being described by wearing the
correct perceived clothes, BUT, before they do wear the clothes; they have to
pass through the obstacle course first. J
2. Help Save the School! The
school is in disarray because the school personnel are not in their correct
offices! A station wherein they have to match the school personnel to its
office by hitting the picture (of the correct office) attached in a web and
match and paste it with its corresponding person. J
3. Match Me! A station wherein
the children would match the number of objects in a set to its correct numeral
with the use of a yarn. Before they can do this, they have to finish a pack of
mini nips and conquer the obstacle course. J
4.Reach me, quick! A station
wherein the divided group of 2 would race in arranging number from 1-10 (N/K),
1-20 (JP/SP). Color coded number cards were scattered in the classroom and they
will have to get it (according to their assigned color) and arrange it in an
ascending order. J
Shrieks
and screams echoed in the lower corridor as preschoolers rushed to finish each
task, and raced towards the finish line. Words of encouragement and cheers
boomed each station as these children excitedly engages in each activity they
have to do. All throughout the activity, their laughter answers how much did
they enjoy the activity, more so, when the teachers handed them their rewards
for actively participating in the K.I.P. J
It is
really rewarding to know that each drop of hard work was deeply appreciated by
these kids who found bliss and contentment even in little things. Having to see
them enjoy and learn makes us to strive more and do more for the next K.I.P
that we are going to have. J
" My alphabet starts with this letter called yuzz. It s the letter I use to spell yuzz a ma tuzz. You'll be sort of surprised what there is to be found once you go beyond Z and start poking around"
